The role of the Safety Coordinator is to work closely with the Safety Supervisor, plant leadership, and floor personnel to foster a safe working environment.
The Safety Coordinator conducts risk assessments, identifies and corrects hazards, conducts training, and interacts with employees to deliver safe, efficient operations.
Job Duties May Include:
Under the direction of the Safety Supervisor, assists with creation and implementation of safety programs.
Audits programs for compliance.
Conducts safety observation reports on a regular basis.
Attends safety walks and inspections to analyze safety risks.
Educates employees on safety standards and expectations as well as safe machine operation.
Makes recommendations for improving safety in the workplace.
Assist with investigations of incidents that occur onsite, identifying root cause and implementing corrective actions as-needed.
Handles administrative functions, including safety shoe program, coordinating safety training, tracking training in computer-based software, and other administrative functions.
Train employees in various safety programs, including forklift certification.
Monitors performance for compliance with training.
Assists or leads on-site safety committees and teams.
Support off-shift assignments as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
This position will work Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 5AM to 5PM - if the schedule is worked without deviation, pay is for 40 hours! If that sounds like you.
here's what we need in terms of education and
Experience:
High School Diploma (or equivalent) (required).
A minimum of two years of experience in a safety support role in Manufacturing / Warehouse environment (required).
First Aid / CPR trained (preferred).
EMT service a plus! Bi-lingual in Spanish (preferred).
General understanding of OSHA, NFPA, ANSI Niosh, and other compliance regulations.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and priorities to meet deadlines.
Experience with EHS Suite software, PowerPoint, Excel, and other computer-based programs required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation.
Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and project managers.
Leadership skills, such as the ability to motivate a team and provide feedback.
This job operates in a manufacturing environment, and the employee is regularly exposed to loud noises and machinery in an environment that is hot in the summer / cool in the winter.
Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment including eye protection, hearing protection, work boots, hardhats, etc.
Physical requirements Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time and perform repetitive motion type tasks regularly.
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance, and occasionally lift greater than 50 pounds.
Ability to endure heat in a warehouse environment.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to vibration, repetitive motion, bending, lifting, twisting, crouching, reaching, pushing and/or pulling.
While performing this position, the employee frequently works near powered forklifts, power tools, and automated assembly machinery.
